Let's Unite For Hunger And Hope!

Have you gone hungry before? Yes?! Why? Because you have no money to eat? Because you have no time to eat? Or because you are going on yet another diet program?

I'm very blessed. I have never gone hungry before. Whenever I'm hungry, there will always be abundant food around me for me to eat. For that, I thank God. Unfortunately, there are millions of people going hungry every day. They are hungry not by choice. They are also not one of those people who are constantly on diet.

It is a fact that millions of children under the age of 5 are malnourished and many die as a result of hunger. There are over 50 countries that do not produce enough food to feed their population. Singapore is one of those countries. In fact, most of the food we eat daily are imported from overseas. Unfortunately, not many countries can afford to buy food from other countries and as a result, people in these countries have to starve.

It's never too late to make a difference! You can help hungry people all around the world by:

- Writing

By writing about world hunger on April 29th, you can help raise awareness about this important issue.

- Donating

By donating to charitable organizations like Heifer International, you can help change the lives of families by providing them with animals and training that will make a difference in their lives and their communities.

You can also click to donate or play puzzles to donate.

- Taking Action

By taking any action on this day to combat world-wide hunger you will be helping a great cause. Donate to a food bank. Feed the homeless in your community. Do whatever you can because every bit helps.

May God Bless you!

World AIDS Day - We can make a difference!

More than 40 million people are currently infected with HIV. Sadly speaking, the numbers are only growing, not dropping.

Some of us may know, some of may not. How exactly do people get AIDS/HIV?

1. HIV can spread through sexual intercourse if one of the partners has the virus. It can be spread through an infected person's blood, semen or any other body fluids. To prevent it, always wear condoms.

2. People who inject themselves with drugs are also at risk. Many people who take intravenous drugs or steroids share needles with others. A person with HIV who shares a needle also shares the virus, which resides in the tiny amounts of blood found on the needle. Sharing needles can also pass hepatitis and other serious infections to another. Prevention is better than cure. Never take drugs.

3. Newborn babies can get HIV from their infected mothers. This can happen before the baby is born, during birth, or through breastfeeding. Pregnant women should be tested for HIV because infected women who receive HIV treatment are less likely to spread the virus to their babies. Babies born to mothers infected with HIV are also given special medicines to try to prevent HIV infection.

As you can see, AIDS/HIV can be prevented. If that's the case, why are the numbers growing and not dropping?

A. Ignorance - In Africa, many are still not aware that condoms protect against HIV infection. Even if they are told, their tribal leaders will tell them: Condoms are a conspiracy by whites to lower African birthrates.

B. Religion - Some religion leaders are against the use of condoms.

C. Indifference - Some people are simply not concerned. I'm sure you have heard of people who know that they are infected with HIV but yet they still go around infecting others.

How can we make a difference?

(i) If you are a blogger, write a blog post about World AIDS Day.
(ii) Wear a red ribbon and encourage others to do likewise.
(iii) Make a donation to help fund AIDS research.
(iv) Make a donation to help find HIV treatment and prevention programs.
(v) Have Self-Awareness!

Let's make a difference not only today, but on each and every day.

Online Charity - Charity Puzzle Sites

Do you like Puzzles? If the answer is yes, you will like the following Charity Puzzle sites.

In these sites, you can work your brain and at the same time, do your part for the less fortunate. Different Charity sites offer different types of puzzles. The puzzles available include vocabulary puzzle, geography trivia, number memorization and even crossword puzzle.

Here is a list of some legitimate Charity Puzzle sites I've found. Have fun! ^^

Answer 1 question correctly and Sponsors will donate 20 grams of Rice. The more you answer correctly, the more the Sponsors will donate.
It's fun, you can learn new words and at the same time help the less fortunate

Answer 1 question correctly, Sponsors will donate $0.25 to children in the most impoverished places around the world. $0.25 is all it takes to feed a child a single meal.

Play word game puzzles to donate to the charity of your choice.
Answer 1 question correctly and Sponsors will donate 10 ounces of Water, 10 grains of Wheat, put a child in School for 10 minutes, or save 10 square inches of Rainforest Land.

Answer 1 question correctly and Sponsors will donate an amount of money equivalent to one spoon of flour to multiple charities. They use your donation to: buy food for the hungry, take food to the hungry, help the hungry feed themselves and make sure food arrives in the right place and at the right time.

It's extremely simple and fun to play.
Basically, after pressing the 'Start' button, you will see a name of a place [i.e. Rome, Italy]. You will need to locate that place on the map and how accurate you are will determine how many cups of water we will donate on your behalf. A perfectly correct answer will result in a donation of 10 cups of water; less accurate will result in 9 cups of water and so on; A completely wrong answer means no cups of water will be donated on your behalf.

Help end world thirst

A number is displayed and you have a certain amount of time to memorise the number indicated by the ever shortening blue bar. Once the time is up you have to enter the numbers by using your number keypad or by clicking on the web based keypad. The game will then compare your answer against the previously displayed number. If you get it correct you will moved onto the next level and Sponsors will donate 1 cup of water.
